Gender in Japanese Names Today

Monografie Gender in Japanese Names Today se zabývá způsoby vyjadřování genderu v japonských rodných jménech a preferencemi, které formují současné pojmenovací praktiky. Na základě lingvistické analýzy, pečlivě sestavených datových souborů a autentických příběhů o výběru jména představuje publikace současné trendy v japonských rodných jménech v kontextu dřívějších pojmenovacích zvyklostí. Kniha ukazuje, že navzdory pokračujícímu poklesu porodnosti v Japonsku dochází k výraznému nárůstu rozmanitosti a kreativity jmen, což přispívá k postupnému oslabování tradičních rozdílů mezi mužskými a ženskými jmény. Přestože skutečně genderově neutrální jména zůstávají méně častá, významně narůstá počet jmen užívaných pro obě pohlaví. Zatímco v západním prostředí genderově neutrální jména obvykle vznikají z původně mužských jmen, v Japonsku lze pozorovat spíše opačnou tendenci.
Publikace zasazuje současné japonské pojmenovací praktiky do širšího mezinárodního kontextu a upozorňuje jak na paralely s globálními trendy, tak na specifické jazykové a kulturní charakteristiky japonských jmen. Přináší podněty nejen pro japonská studia a lingvistiku, ale také pro výzkum genderu, kultury a společenských proměn. Publikaci doplňují volně dostupné datové soubory a interaktivní webová platforma určená k analýze japonských rodných jmen.
